KaySquirrel’s Blog Thingy

I’ve been shutting the windows as soon as it gets dark outside for the last week or so because it seems to be crane fly season, and we’ve had at least half a dozen of them venture into the house so far.

I know they only come inside to get at the lights, but they still kinda creep me out. They like to fly into our round rice paper lampshades and bounce around in there, which makes lots of noise. Sometimes they even make shadow puppets of monsters and stuff to try to scare me.

When they’re done with that, most of them tend to fly drunkenly TOWARDS MY HEAD. Harmless or not, that’s just not cool.

The cats LOVE ‘em, though. They’re easy to catch, and apparently taste quite nice, as well.

Here’s one Kismet caught & enjoyed this evening. Notice the rude gestures he’s making at me while I try to snap a photo?

Maybe I’ll start referring to them as Lollygaggers instead. That name makes ‘em sound less likely to want to glom onto your face and poke out your eyes just for the hell of it!
