Recipes

If you’ve come here from a Google search for Bernhard’s Austrian Cookbook, and were as disappointed as I was that we never got the cooking forum we were promised either, I’ve decided to create one!

Come visit The Forum Thingy! I’ve posted recipes very, very, similar to the ones that used to be on his site. Feel free to join up, post some of your own favorites, or just talk about good food in general!

———-

I archive recipes here for my own convenience. They’re all backdated to January 1 2000 so they don’t clutter up the rest of my blog. In most cases, I’ve tried to include oven temperature conversions for Fahrenheit, Celcius, and the Gas Marks that we use here in the UK.

Most of the recipes posted are in imperial measurements, simply because that’s what I’ve always used, being Canadian and all. There are tons of imperial to metric conversion sites on the intertubes, so if you absolutely don’t know what to do with a cup, a quick google search should clear things up for you.

I love cooking, but I’ve never bought a cookbook. I clip recipes out of magazines and newspapers, and have a respectable collection of those little recipe booklets that companies will send you in order to try to convince you to use their product. I also search the internet for inspiration, and love sifting through the millions of recipe sites out there. (I should probably start linking to my favorite sites, so that I have them all in one place!)

I sometimes add my own notes at the end of a recipe, just to remind myself of little things I might have changed when preparing the meal. I’m slowly working on adding photos of the foods I cook, provided I can remember to bring the camera into the kitchen! I make no promises on the quality of the photos, though. ;)

If you see something you like, please feel free to copy it, share it, change it to suit your own taste — whatever you want!

Happy cooking!
